The Third Beach trail is a well-maintained path that winds through lush coastal forest. The first part of the trail is relatively flat, but there's a steeper descent of roughly 200 feet towards the beach. Directions
Google Maps Head east on Mora Rd toward Maintenance Area Rd for 2.6 miles. Turn right onto WA-110 for 3.8 miles. Trailhead parking should be on your left.
Reaching the Beach
The trail ends at a beautiful stretch of Third Beach, known for its seclusion and dramatic scenery. The beach itself is a mix of sand and pebbles, with large driftwood logs scattered along the shore.
Wildlife and Tidepools
During low tide, explore tide pools teeming with marine life like sea stars, anemones, and mussels. Keep an eye out for bald eagles soaring overhead or seals basking on the rocks.
Restrictions and Tips
- The Third Beach trail is located on Quillayute Tribal Land. Respect their regulations and pay any required trail use fees.
- Wear sturdy shoes with good traction, as the trail can be slippery in wet conditions.
- Be aware of tides and plan your hike accordingly. High tide can limit beach access. Check tide tables before you go!
- Bring plenty of water and snacks.
- Leave no trace - pack out all trash.
